In 2004, my eldest daughter Sri Vidhya was blessed with progeny. I went to Atlanta, to support her through labor and delivery. When I was getting ready to return to India, my daughter fell seriously ill. I had to extend my stay and visa in the US for two more months. My daughter was employed as a software engineer and had to return to work. Once I returned to India, she enrolled the four months old baby in a day care center and went to work.

Unfortunately, the baby contracted ear infection from the day care and fell very sick. The pediatrician advised home care for the baby. My daughter requested me to help her take care of the baby till she found a nanny. I left for the USA again.

When I landed at the Atlanta airport, I was interviewed by immigration officials. An austere immigration officer looked at me with hostility and asked when I would return to India. I answered that I would return in 4 months. With distrust she said "I don't believe that you will return home in 4 months. I looked at your records and found that you had extended your stay the last time you visited". I tried to explain to her that I owned a business and had aged parents in India but she paid no heed. She escalated the issue to her supervisors. I felt overwhelmed. I only wanted to help my daughter and here I found myself in foreign land trying to explain myself unsuccessfully to (3) unfriendly authority. I went to meet the senior immigration officials and they asked me the same questions. They listened to my answers and began discussing among themselves. I meditated on the lotus feet of the compassionate Guru and surrendered to Him. I recited the paramount Mantra "Sri Guro Paahimaam". Before I could complete "Sringeri Jagadguro Paahimaam" a senior officer asked if my daughter was employed. I answered she was employed as a software engineer. Immediately, he granted me 6 months visa and apologized for causing inconvenience and delay.

Scriptures expound the grace and speed with which Lord Hari came to save Gajendra from the alligator. With the same compassion and swiftness my Guru, the supreme personality of Godhead, came to my protection across continents. దురదృష్టవశాత్తు, డే కేర్ సెంటర్ లో వున్నప్పుడు శిశువు చెవికి ఇన్ఫెక్షన్ సోకి అనారోగ్యం పాలు అయ్యింది. పిల్లల వైద్యుడు శిశువును ఇంటి సంరక్షణలో కొన్నాలు వుంచాలని సూచించినాడు. నా కుమార్తె తనకు నానీ దొరికే వరకు బిడ్డను చూసుకోవడానికి సహాయం చేయమని నన్ను అభ్యర్థించింది. నేను మళ్ళీ USA కి బయలుదేరాను.

నేను అట్లాంటా విమానాశ్రయంలో దిగినప్పుడు, నన్ను ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్ అధికారులు ఇంటర్వ్యూ చేశినారు. కఠినమైన ఓ ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్ అధికారి నన్ను శత్రుత్వంతో చూసినట్లుగా నేను భారతదేశానికి ఎప్పుడు తిరిగి వస్తానని అడిగింది. నేను 4 నెలల్లో తిరిగి వస్తానని సమాధానం ఇచ్చాను. అపనమ్మకంతో "మీరు 4 నెలల్లో ఇంటికి తిరిగి వస్తారన్న నమ్మకం నాకు కలగడం లేదు. నేను మీ రికార్డులను అన్నీ చూసాను మరియు మీరు చివరిసారి సందర్శించినప్పుడు మీ బసను పొడిగించారని నేను తెలుసుకున్నాను " అని చెప్పింది. భారతదేశంలో నేను ఒక వ్యాపారాన్ని కలిగి ఉన్నానని మరియు వృద్ధులైన తల్లిదండ్రులు ఉన్నారని నేను ఆమెకు వివరించడానికి ప్రయత్నించాను, కానీ ఆమె పట్టించుకోలేదు. ఆమె తన సూపర్‌వైజర్‌కు సమస్యను చేరవేసింది.

నేను పొంగిపోయాను. నేను నా కుమార్తెకు మాత్రమే సహాయం చేయాలనుకున్నాను, కానీ ఇక్కడ నేను విదేశీ దేశంలో ఎంత ప్రయత్నించినా స్నేహపూరిత వాతావరణం లేని కార్యాలయంలోని అధికారులకు వివరించలేక విఫలమైనట్లు గా భావించి, నేను ఒక సీనియర్ ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్ అధికారిని కలవడానికి వెళ్ళాను మరియు వారు కూడా నన్ను అవే ప్రశ్నలు అడిగారు.
